I have been trading for more than 12 years so I would consider myself a veteran trader. Over the years I've dealt with numerous fx brokers around the world, some good and some awful. After trying more than 16 different forex brokers I have at last settled on Australia's largest True ECN forex broker IC Markets.
Over the past 3 years dealing with IC Markets I've not had many problems, trading with them continues to be a pleasure. Among the massive advantages of dealing with IC Markets is that they take deposits in 8 separate foreign currencies AUD, USD, CHF, JPY, EUR, HKD, NZD and GBP. Being able to fund my primary account and secondary accounts in several currencies other than USD which most forex brokers offer means that I do not have to deal with currency risk on my money, the only risks that I have to deal with are those bought about through my fx trading, this can be easily be managed with stop loss orders.
An additional great thing about IC Markets is the fact they also permit you to establish as many accounts as you please, I capitalise on this allot as I prefer to setup my EAs on separate trading accounts with a small balance for testing purposes. Most forex brokers won't let you create in excess of three trading accounts but IC Markets lets me have as many as I desire.
It's also really good that IC Markets permit me to fund my trading account using Moneybookers. I occasionally use Moneybookers as a backup as it is an extremely speedy way of sending money, dramatically faster than a wire transfer. In addition to Moneybookers they also offer credit card, Wire Transfer, Neteller and Webmoney which means you never really have any problems funding your account.
I mainly trade using EA's this is actually how I got onto IC Markets in the first place. They are the preferred forex provider for most Expert Advisor vendors as their prices are razor tight making them good for scalpers like me. I have setup my IC Markets Metatrader 4 platform on a CNS VPS in New York, CNS have in place a cross connect to the Equinix NY4 data center in New York which is where IC Markets house their trade servers. Since there is a fibre optic cross connect in place the execution speed achievable from my CNS VPS to NY4 is lower than one millisecond.
Not surprisingly regulation is also extremely imperative. IC Markets is regulated by ASIC in Australia. ASIC is among the many best regulators in the world and are known to have tremendously stringent compliance processes. I've traded with offshore unregulated forex brokers in the past and have had problems so I'm extremely pleased that IC Markets is regulated by ASIC in Australia.
Other than forex on their Metatrader 4 platform they also have Index CFDs and Futures. Although I don't trade Indices much whatsoever it's nice to have them on my platform. I mainly use the graphs of the Indices to assist me to determine the direction of certain foreign exchange pairs.
