A Collection Agency in Mario's Hands

By Rob Sutter

Mario cannot catch a break to save his life, in my opinion. He finds that his free time is often occupied by either saving a helpless princess or taking part in various tennis, golf, and go-kart competitions. Considering that he's been at these activities for the past two decades, it's not hard to see that he won't be able to do the very things he used to when he was starting out in the video game world. With all of this taken into account, it may be time for the Mushroom Kingdom's great defender to utilize a collection agency.

Princess Peach finds herself served by the various mushroom-crowned creatures referred to as the Mushroom People. While they might not be terribly strong, they are strongly dedicated to the princess and do not question her at all. It's strange to me, though, that not one of them can muster the fortitude to rescue her. Instead, Mario is sent out across several worlds to find her and this is where the debt may begin to form.

A collection agency works in order to collect the amassed debts that people have in return for goods or services. Morally good companies like R.R.S. would be able to conduct business in a fair manner and I feel like Mario's path of business would be no different. He is a heroic character but even then, there are several aspects that he could charge for. Between essentially running marathons within levels to diving deep below the world like a maintenance man, Mario's services are plentiful.

What about Mario's several sports titles? From "Mario Kart" to "Mario Party," each game has his name within the title and I'm certain he'd be the one making the most money if they were movies and the characters were actors. I'd also like to believe that he owns all of the equipment used in order to take part in these activities. He could easily charge for a new booster addition to a kart or maybe a tennis racquet of better quality. Imagine the money he could make if he replaced standard golf clubs with ones that could amplify the chances of scoring a hole-in-one.

Mario has a great deal of skills in the way of both running and jumping, which don't even encompass his sports-related prowess. He possesses a robust sense of knowledge from the past two decades and counting that he's been in the video game industry. He has a great deal of skills that could be utilized and he could charge handsomely for them as well. Mario is a very multi-faceted figure and as a collection agency on his own, it'd be hard to deny that he'd be successful.
