How To Identify Real Chinese Gold Coins

By Claudette Lambert

People who own Chinese gold coins are not rare these days. They either have the money for it or they might have traded it for something of equal value. Trading, buying, and selling of such valuables are not rare these days, after all. The person will just have to make sure that everything is in order before doing anything with this.

Be strict when handling this material. After all, the person will have to make sure that this product is not a counterfeit one. If the person can verify that the product is really not counterfeit, then there is no need to worry about any loss in profit. There are certain things that one has to pay attention to for the sake of identifying real from fake.

It is important to be familiar with the weight of the said product properly. The weight of the said said product will be a giveaway on whether this product is really an authentic item. The original one is usually heavier. It is also more dense. The person should know at least this much in order to separate the fake coin from the real one.

There is also a measurement that one will have to remember. The person should really pay attention to some measurements of the real coin. After all, this measurement can be used to compare the real and fake together. The coin should not be too thick or too large since this only means that the item is fake.

Some details must be brought to attention. In order for the person to get an idea on whether the coin is authentic or not, take note of the content, quality, and color of the said item. When the person is familiar with how the item should look like originally, then it will be easier to determine the fake ones from authentic ones.

There is the ring test as well. This basically refers to the distinct sound that each metal gives off when they clang with each other. This is not the best way for deciding whether the product is original or not, though. When the person is familiar with the sound of the said precious metal, it will be easier to determine the original ones from the fake ones.

The scratch test will surely serve useful for the person as well. When every precious metal is scratched on another surface, there is an corresponding color streak that will be left behind. If the person knows what the color streak the said coin should leave. This way, the person can confirm the authenticity of the coin.

It is also a given to do an acid test. With the acid test, the person can identify the authentic ones. After all, this noble metal will not react nor get dissolved no matter what kind of acid the person uses on it. Neither sulphuric acid nor nitric acid can do anything to an authentic coin.

The magnet should also be usable in this kind of task. The person should get a magnet to use for identifying the real ones from the counterfeit ones. No matter if it is the Chinese gold coins or silver ones, they are non-magnetic. They should not stick to the magnet when the latter is near.
